The Metro's move into the satellite township of Delhi is expected to bring a paradigm shift in the travelling habits of people in the National Capital Region. DMRC's estimate is that about 53,000 people will daily use the new age transport system after the opening of the Noida corridor. The Noida corridor, built at a cost of Rs630 crore, is completely elevated and will be integrated with the existing 34.3 km Yamuna Bank-Dwarka Sector-9 segment, extending the total length of Line-3 to 47.4 km. Delhi Metro among world’s top five, claims DMRC

Image
Be it punctuality or efficacy of service, Delhi Metro officials claim the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) ranks among the top five metro rail systems in the world. Despite several teething problems, most of which, officials claim, stem from a lack of awareness among Metro commuters, DMRC officials feel the mass rapid transit system has fared quite well and managed to deliver services at par with international standards.

Akshardham Metro Station: Tallest & most Aesthetical

Metro to connect malls with stations in Gurgaon, Noida

Image
The Metro is eyeing malls to track more passengers in Gurgaon and Noida. Result: the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) has decided to connect malls to its stations in Gurgaon and Noida. The Corporation has in any case planned the 14.47-kilometre Gurgaon stretch along malls to ensure higher footfall for both the Metro line and the commercial outlets. As a result, DMRC will connect the Mehrauli-Gurgaon (M-G) Road Metro station, which is on the central verge, to the flanking MGF Metropolitan and DT City Centre malls, as also with the Heritage City residential complex through enclosed foot overbridges. If this commuter circulation plan proves successful, Delhi Metro may well consider connecting more stations to such commercial and residential hubs. The foot overbridge (under construction) will drop off commuters right at entrances to the malls. Visitors to these malls can also use this to cross over as part of the overbridge falls in the station’s unpaid circulating area. ...

Qutub Minar-Gurgaon metro rail link

Image
The metro rail link from Qutub Minar to Gurgaon is expected to be operational before the Commonwealth Games next year with the government approving transfer of a stretch of defence land to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). By virtue of the transfer of land, the nation will have a metro rail system network from Qutub Minar to Gurgaon before the Commonwealth Games. Noting that there is heavy traffic congestion on this route, the people of Delhi, Haryana and the National Capital Region would benefit from the project. DMRC has been considering this route for "quite some time" and has already started the preliminary stages of work. The metro link route was earlier facing problems with the Archaeological Survey of India, which has now been sorted out.
