Delhi Metro Commences Tunneling at Palam on the Janakpuri West-Botanical garden corridor of Phase III
The DMRC has commenced tunneling on a crucial 1.5 km stretch of the upcoming Janakpuri West – Botanical Garden corridor at Palam, which will play a major role in connecting areas like Janakpuri, Dabri, Palam etc with important locations such as the IGI Airport – Domestic Terminal, Hauz Khas, IIT, Nehru Place, Jamia Milia University and NOIDA. The tunnel which starts from the Palam Metro station will emerge in the defence land at the end of the Dwarka flyover (Dhaula Kuan end) after covering a distance of 1.51 kms, from where the alignment will become elevated. This particular tunneling drive is expected to be finished by the month of December. The tunnel will have an internal diameter of 5.8 mtrs and external diameter of 6.3 mtrs and will consist of 1,015 rings.
